A safe deposit box is a secure container used to store valuables at the Credit Union. Boxes are usually made of metal and have a variety of sizes available. Safe deposit boxes are only accessible during regular business hours, which is important to keep in mind when deciding what to put in a safe deposit box.
WHAT SHOULD GO IN A SAFE DEPOSIT BOX?
- Personal Paperwork (like birth or marriage certificates, deed to your home, etc.)
- Paper bonds or stock certificates
- Collectibles (like stamp or coin collections)
WHAT SHOULD NOT GO IN A SAFE DEPOSIT BOX?
- Medical Directives
- Original copy of will
- Cash (since safe deposit boxes are not covered by NCUA insurance)

A safe deposit box is a good thing to consider if you have important items needing to be stored in a secure place.
